Monique Bayless is a Middle TN native, with a BBA in Finance, Specializing in Business Finance which she received from
Middle Tennessee State University in 2001. Before forming the Personal Finance companies IME, Inc., later Make Money Work, Monique was employed in all aspects of the Finance Industry including Banking, Credit, Insurance and Investments specialties. She was a freelance writer and penned a Personal Finance column for FAVORED, a
Christian magazine, from 2011-2012. That is what sparked Monique to write What’s Up With My Money!?, What’s Up
With My Credit!?, and What’s Up With My Money/Credit: Tweens, Teens and In Betweens!? as a series of books!
On a more personal level, Mrs. Smith is the wife of James R. Smith, Jr., mother of three amazing children (spanning
adulthood through teen years) and dog-mom of one pretty cute pooch! Monique was Saved in the “wee hours of the
night” at her home when she was in her mid-twenties after a traumatic season and THAT was the turning point to who she is today. The Call to serve God’s people in the areas where they were bound due to a lack of knowledge was the driving force! Monique left her roles in “corporate America” to align her life for purpose in parenting, teaching, and writing.
As a young child, Monique's heart has always been drawn to hurting or distressed people. Even while she was one
of those same people, herself. Monique found EDUCATION as her golden ticket to overcoming homelessness, pulling out of the public housing and welfare system! She always knew that her story wasn’t going to end there in the “valley of
death”. So, she made it her goal to help herself first and then as many people as she could reach, to not let their life
stories end there either. Today, Monique serves communities as a public speaker guiding other sojourners
along their way. She is also a Personal Finance Optimization Guide, and a Purpose Coach for Make Money
Work. Monique’s story is a true Beauty for Ashes story. She loves to help others rewrite their own story too. It is her mission in life to remove the shackle of money, and all the emotional roots attached to it, as a reason to stay in any pit. It all starts by finding answers to questions. The question Monique answers for you is: What's Up With My Money!?
